What Genesis is
Genesis is a personal finance organizer. You record your own income, spending, budgets, goals and assets, and the app helps you see them clearly.
What Genesis is not. Not a bank, a lender, a broker, a payment service or an investment adviser. It does not connect to your bank accounts, hold or move money, extend credit, or recommend financial products. Every figure in the app is one you entered yourself. Nothing in the app is financial advice.
Using Genesis
You must be 18 or older to use Genesis.
You can use the app without an account. Creating one — with Google or Apple sign-in — enables optional cloud backup.
You agree not to use Genesis to break the law, to attempt to access other people's data, or to interfere with the service for others.
Your data is yours
You own everything you put into Genesis. We claim no rights over it. It lives encrypted on your device; we do not read it. How the small amount of data that does reach us is handled is set out in the Privacy Policy.
You can export everything at any time from Settings → Export, and delete everything at any time from Settings → Delete Account or the web deletion page.
Accuracy, and what not to rely on us for
Genesis reflects what you enter. Balances, budgets, net worth and reports are calculated from your own records and are only as accurate as those records. Receipt scanning uses automated text recognition and will sometimes read a figure wrongly — check what it fills in.
Currency conversion uses published European Central Bank reference rates, cached for up to four hours, and is indicative rather than a dealing rate.
Do not use Genesis as your only record of anything that matters. Keep your bank statements, and export your data periodically.
Backups
Cloud backup, if you enable it, stores an encrypted archive in a private folder of your Google Drive. It is encrypted with a passphrase you choose, which we never receive and cannot recover.
If you lose that passphrase, the backup cannot be restored — by you or by us. That is what it means for the backup to be genuinely encrypted. Store it somewhere safe.
Cost
Genesis is free. There are no paid features, no subscriptions and no in-app purchases, and the app contains no billing of any kind. If that ever changes we will say so here first, and nothing you already have will start costing money without your agreement.
Availability
The app works offline; your data is local. Sign-in, backup and receipt scanning need a connection and depend on services we do not control, so they may occasionally be unavailable. We may change or discontinue optional features, and will give reasonable notice where a change would lose you data.
Liability
Genesis is provided as-is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for financial decisions you make using the app, or for data loss where you have not kept an export or backup. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and nothing here affects your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
Ending things
You can stop using Genesis and delete your account whenever you like. We may suspend an account being used to attack the service or harm other users, and will tell you why where we lawfully can.
Governing law and complaints
These terms are governed by the laws of India, with courts in Bangalore, Karnataka having jurisdiction.

Changes
We will post any change here and update the date at the top. Continuing to use Genesis after a change means you accept it; if you do not, you can export your data and delete your account.
