In the app — immediate
Open Genesis, then Settings → Delete Account. It completes right away, removing your data from our servers and from your device in one step.
Already uninstalled the app?
Email us from the address you signed in with, with the subject “Delete my Genesis account”. We use the sending address to confirm the request is yours, so it has to come from that account. We need nothing else — no phone number, no ID.
We action requests within 7 days and confirm by reply when it is done. Our outer commitment is 90 days, per India's DPDP Rules.
What gets deleted
| Data | What happens |
|---|---|
| Your account and sign-in | Deleted |
| Email, name, profile photo | Deleted |
| Error reports linked to your account | Deleted |
| Everything on your device — transactions, budgets, goals, documents, encryption keys | Deleted, if you delete from within the app |
| Google Drive backups | Deleted from the app's private folder |
What is kept, and why
Minimal processing logs — one year
Rule 8(3) of India's Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025 requires us to retain personal data and processing logs for at least one year, and states this applies even where the person has deleted their account. We keep the minimum the rule requires, use it for nothing else, and erase it when the year is up.
Only want to remove some of it?
You do not have to delete the whole account. In the app:
- Settings → Erase Everything clears all data on the device while keeping your account.
- Individual transactions, accounts, goals and documents can each be deleted on their own.
- Settings → Share usage data turns analytics off without affecting anything else.
Before you go
Deletion cannot be undone. If you might want your records later, use Settings → Export first — it produces a CSV of every transaction, which is yours to keep.
